Know Your Measurements

The Thrive assessment analyses more than 130 factors to identify whether you are at risk of 22 common chronic diseases.

Even more importantly, we then work with you to figure out what you can do to keep yourself happy and healthy.

These measurements:

  • blood pressure,

  • cholesterol levels

  • height,

  • weight,

  • neck &

  • waist circumference

are important factors in calculations of your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, sleep apnoea, kidney disease, diabetes and some common cancers.

To make things a little easier, it's best to have as many of these on hand as you can before you start your assessment.

If you don’t have these numbers, no stress, you can take a rough guess and update your accurate numbers in the ‘Measurements section of your Dashboard when you have them.

Here are a few tips to get accurate measurements of your neck and waist circumference.

How to measure your neck.

  1. First, locate your 'Adam's apple'. This is typically in the middle of your neck, about halfway between the base of your chin and the bottom of your neck.

  2. Put the tape measure around your neck at this level and hold it firmly.

How to measure your waist.

  1. You can measure your waist over a light piece of clothing, but if you are wearing anything heavy, it might be easier to find a place where you can have some privacy and measure against your skin.

  2. Find the narrowest part, typically just above your belly button and put the tape measure around your waist.

  3. Hold the tape firmly and gently breathe out, then take your measurement.
