In2health 2023: Reflecting on a year lived big

As 2023 winds down, the team at In2health, aren’t just reflecting on what we’ve achieved so far; we’re reimagining the future of healthcare.  We are a small team with a huge purpose. We believe that we have lived big this year, taking substantial steps to deliver a new model of healthcare, driven by our unyielding commitment to innovate to improve lives.

We are so grateful to our many mentors and to the organisations and individuals that we have had inspiring conversations and shared ideas with this year. We feel privileged to be a part of an amazing community of passionate healthcare innovators and we look forward to what’s ahead.

A YEAR OF TRANSFORMATION

THE HEART OF OUR MISSION:

Our journey so far has been fuelled by our purpose to unleash the power of prevention to save lives, to address the stark reality that an Australian dies prematurely of a preventable condition every 20 minutes. Sadly there are ongoing systemic challenges to accessing quality preventive care, related to complex factors including geography, funding and healthcare workforce shortages. These need to be addressed as a matter of urgency.

COLLABORATION IS KEY:

One of the In2health values is ‘no room for egos’, we aim to take on challenges with humility and curiosity. Australia has a thriving ecosystem of purpose driven clinician innovators.  Our team is always open to new conversations to find potential collaborations that will improve population health.

Our founder Gill SIngleton had a fantastic experience participating in the inaugural Australian Clinical Entrepreneur Program (AUSCEP) in 2022/23. Gill is now proud to be a mentor for this brilliant community that is designed to equip clinicians with the skills to get their innovations out into the world making a difference.

MILESTONES THAT INSPIRE US

EMPOWERING HEALTHIER LIVES:

The soft launch of version 1.0 of our digital prevention platform this year was a culmination of years of hard work. The In2health platform is not just a solution to fil gaps in our health system; we believe that it's a movement to democratise proactive and personalised healthcare. It is designed to meet a big need for people, whoever they are and wherever they are, to easily access personalised and comprehensive preventive care. Through our engaging online ‘Health Check’, individuals can access their health score dashboard and a detailed medical and lifestyle action plan with links to useful resources and referrals if needed. The In2health algorithms calculate lifetime risk of 20 preventable chronic conditions, incorporating 130 protective and risk factors. We have a person centred focus to inspire behaviour change and access to additional recommended screening. This is not a one size fits all, cookie cutter approach.

AUTOMATING PREVENTIVE CARE

We're working hard to bridge some of the gaps in preventive care by augmenting the important work of GPs and nurses and supporting access to improved remuneration. Our digital platform aims to  enhance the efficiency of primary care, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on what they do best – caring for patients.

PIONEERING RESEARCH

Another significant milestone which made the team do a very long and enthusiastic happy dance, was when we were notified that Gill and an amazing team of academics at the University of Wollongong were the recipients of the RACGP Foundation/HCF Research Foundation 2023 research grant for the ePREVENT 360 study. This is a feasibility and acceptability study of use of In2health in primary care that we will kick off in early 2024. This could redefine the way that preventive care is delivered and so we’re keen to speak to innovative general practice clinics out there who may be interested in collaborating with us on this.

EXPANDING OUR REACH:

Looking ahead to 2024, we’re excited to bring our Health Check with additional GP wellness consultations and de-identified organisation health reports to workplaces. Innovative organisations will have the opportunity to partner with us to identify mental and physical health lead indicators early to foster healthier work environments and people across the country. The aim of this project is to improve population health, one workplace at a time!

WHAT’S ON THE HORIZON?

We’re on the cusp of adding new features into our platform, including a mobile app where we will integrate all of the amazing personalised insights from the In2health action plan as well as data from wearables.  This  will enable users to track their health journey more seamlessly.
